Conversation Playbook
Peer Support Group — Facilitator
Better Conversations | Stronger Relationships | Better Outcomes
Before the call
- Frame it: tell the group Clarion listens for patterns across four EI domains — not grading anyone. Authentic talk beats performed talk.
- Let the conversation breathe. Your job is to steer toward the right kind of talk, not run a rigid Q&A.
- Pull up the previous Clarion report for 2–3 min before starting — close the loop on prior commitments.
Rotate through all four domains each call
Self-Awareness
- “What's a moment this month where you noticed yourself reacting strongly, in real time?”
- “What emotion showed up first, before you had a chance to think it through?”
- “Where did you catch yourself falling into an old pattern?”
Self-Management
- “Where did you handle pressure or a setback differently than you would have six months ago?”
- “What helped you stay grounded when things got stressful this month?”
- “What's one thing you're still working on managing better?”
Social Awareness
- “Tell us about a time you read the room or picked up on something unspoken with a colleague or client.”
- “When did you notice someone else's perspective shift how you approached a situation?”
- “Where did you sense tension before anyone said anything?”
Relationship Management
- “Walk us through a hard conversation you had, and how you tried to build or repair trust.”
- “What's one relationship at work you're intentionally investing in right now?”
- “How did you show up for someone else in the group's network this month?”
Getting a stronger report out of it
- End with commitments: each participant states one specific “I will…” before next call — this feeds commitment-risk scoring.
- Use LCD (Likeable, Credible, Dependable) as a lens if the group is comfortable: ask where someone felt more/less Likeable, Credible, or Dependable in a real interaction.
- Avoid generic “how's work going?” — it gives Clarion little to map to the model. Specific moments beat general updates.
Facilitator reminders
- Don't rush past silence — reflection pauses often produce the richest Self-Awareness material.
- Redirect vague answers with a follow-up: “Can you walk us through exactly what happened?”
- Close every call the same way: recap commitments out loud so the group hears them stated, not just logged.
